Pano's interest in education stems from his time serving as a Lecturer at the University of Delaware right out of school. Seeing the need for disruption, even back then, Pano has spent his entire career in technology. He is 4-time serial entrepreneur and is currently the Founder of Guided Launch, a seed and early stage advisory and operating practice that works with early stage startups to launch successfully Digital Media, Consumer and SMB-targeted businesses across mobile and internet platforms. Since its inception in 2010, Guided Launch has co-founded or engaged with 4 startups in the mobile, Facebook Advertising, SMB and consumer web spaces. GatherEducation is his latest hatchling.
Shonak Patel grew up in a family full of educators and socially-minded entrepreneurs. Prior to jumping into GatherEducation, he was a co-founder and CEO of Swellr.com, a web platform designed to help convert a portion of our everyday spending on shopping and dining into critical funding for specific public school classroom needs. After four years of working in real estate finance, Shonak served as an AmeriCorps volunteer in New Orleans from 2009-2010, doing community development and organizing work in one of the city's most under-served neighborhoods. Shonak is obsessed with learning, listening, and finding new ways of improving access to new educational opportunities for others.
Chris Mortonson comes to GatherEducation the games industry. Previously, he was a programmer and artist at various game companies working on XBox 360, Playstation 3 and Nintendo DS titles. In 2005 he joined a startup game company, 1st Playable, that made educational games for ages 4-12. After three years working in the traditional games space, he moved to become an early employee at Hangout Industries where he built the 3D client for their virtual world MMO. Chris spends his thinking hours on how to use games and game technology to engage people in education and other self-improvement exercises.
